And lastly, whatever pulses you don't eat will expire at the end of the next season, whereas grain lasts 2 years. Plus, all the straw allows you to have more animals, and with set limits and auto-slaughter, I constantly have an abundance of meat and bread. Plus it frees up 2 entire seasons each year for me to hunt or start up building projects without ever being worried about food for my people or animals. While your guys are sowing and harvesting in winter and summer, mine only walk a few steps to the granary to grab some grain and a few steps to cook it up, anytime they want, year round. Publicado originalmente por angryperson:You end up working less with just grains. If you ever need to supplement, you can gather berries and fish. I really did try with pulses when I first started but it's just not worth it. ![]() You end up working less with just grains. This means your workload doesn't spike to 150% but only to 100% :D Jg89d has it right that working really hard in the spring (my workload is usually 160%) doesn't matter much when your people are relaxing at 30-50% labor for the rest of the year.Publicado originalmente por Vrtni kuščar:I really like pulses because they get planted in the winter and harvested in summer which is between the grain planting/harvesting season. This also helps during raids as people are already equipped for combat and take their places faster. This one is optional, but I set spears to 25% while bumping swords to 75% during Copper Age+ as most of my villagers seem to roll with a sword/knife and bow by default. I set sickles to 75% for reasons explained above. I set fishing tools to 25%, as I never have more than 10 people fishing even with a 200 population. There were times when villagers with the bows stayed home and the guy with a spear and knife went hunting instead. ![]() ![]() I set bows/composite bows to 75%, just to make sure I have enough people manning the towers during raids and more people are using the better hunting weapon. The only concern is making sure you have enough tools to harvest the fields when the time comes (I set sickles to 75% up from 50%) or you may not be able to harvest it all before the season's end as the people with the tools will get tired and unhappy quickly and go to sleep or OFP mid-season.Ī few things I did that made the game easier for me: Now I no longer require 6 breweries for a 200 pop just to keep the beer from staying at an almost constant 0. The space I was using for pulses now goes toward more grain for beer production, which used to be hard as hell to keep up with before the changes to two beer per grain. I did plant a great deal of fruit trees just to beautify the area around my small town and fields, but even the fruit from those trees were going bad before my people could eat it all. I was doing pulses at first, thinking balanced diet and all that, but I'd get a message every 2-4 secs that pulses were spoiling and it got too damn annoying to deal with. I never bother with pulses anymore, as I get enough food from baking bread and meat from livestock/hunting.
