It's largely based around trauma and how it affects each and every one of the characters, INCLUDING the mc. But still, in my opinion it would still be much better to create an anime revolving around one route only, rather than creating an awkward harem with no real development or closure to any of the characters.ĭiabolik lovers, the game, is one of the most engrossing and well written otome games ever created. But even if companies chose to base the series based entirely on that one character route, that would still leave unsavoury feelings for its fans, since even if one route is canon, the rest are still just as important and often give insight into the main conflict and show other characters' issues and trauma. Many otome games may also have a "canon route" of sorts, usually meaning that's the route where the main conflict of the story gets fully resolved. I think the other issue that led to Diabolik lovers' downfall is the fact that the original games don't even have official english translations, so even those who are interested in otome games don't get to experience the source material in all its beauty. So, these anime tend to attempt at combining each and every route at once, basically creating an awkward harem where every other minute consists of 3 guys jumping up on the mc with her doing nothing at all. You can't make a season based on each and every character from the cast, neither can you make every episode focused on one character only. This is the very reason why all otome games based anime fail. The whole point of otome games is that you get to play the individual routes of each character, get to know each one of them on their own and date them. And this anime, sadly, has had it the worst in this aspect. anime series based on otome games, and each time so far has been an utter disappointment to the fans and a laughing stock to the non-fans. ![]() Many times companies have tried developing ![]() Yes, a character, not the whole entire cast of the game, or at least, not all at once. Many otome games have incredibly well written plots that happen to have the already existing conflict and story also revolve around a romance between the player and a character. In it's core, this anime is based on an otome game, and as silly as otome games may sound to some, they are but a genuine interest to many. I think this anime's biggest issue is the fact that it's reached an audience that's clearly not meant to be it's target audience.
